Youth Night – RYPEN 2023

In June 2023 Balgowlah Rotary Club sponsored 7 students:4 from Mackellar & 3 from Balgowlah Boys High to attend RYPEN – Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment.

5 students shared their stories with the club on Tuesday August 1, 2023, at a dinner held at Balgowlah Bowling Club, Balgowlah Heights.

The evening was well attended with members partners and other guests in addition the the 5 students and their parent(s)

President Roger opened the meeting welcoming members and guests then passed over to Pascal Grant who organised and managed the night. Each student then was introduced by Pascal together with their parent. 

WHAT IS RYPEN - ROTARY YOUTH PROGRAM OF ENRICHMENT?

During a residential weekend, young people aged 14-16 participate in a variety of self-improvement activities, promoting:

◦            increased motivation

◦            more confidence

◦            better self-image,

◦            improved life skills

◦            an understanding of setting & achieving goals.

Teamwork skills are honed, as peers from many different backgrounds, debate and interact together in an informal fun atmosphere.

The students gave very informative and professional presentations at the meeting explaining the activities done and skills that they gained during RYPEN.

 

A most enjoyable Q&A and What is RYPEN session conducted by Robert Exner with the students followed.

All the students gave great feedback on what they experienced and gained from the RYPEN camp and said they were greatly appreciative of the opportunity that we had provided for them to attend. 

 

Everyone present said how enjoyable and informative the evening was and thanked all the students for sharing their experiences and impressions with us, together with the benefits it made for them personally.
