"Hole in the Wall" track to Shelly Beach Manly

Sue arranged that all met at the Old Manly Hospital site just outside St Paul's school

A group of 7 and set off up Bluefish Drive then walked east along a mostly well-formed track in North Head Sanctuary.

Very soon we saw wildflowers of various colours and species













 

 

We then saw the 9.2 inch gun emplacements and the tunnels that support them. The area was completed in 1938 and in 2017 the guns were moved to be housed in Puckpunyal in Victoria at yet to be built artillery museum. They fired shells weighing 2 tons and had a range of 27Km (that's the distance from North Head to Parramatta).

We didn't hear any frogs at the pond but all enjoyed a great view of the ocean cliffs along the walk and the relaxed at the Boathouse at Shelly Beach. Thank you to Sue you alread hada a walk in these parts in September.

Sun Run 2024

It came around quickly - the first Saturday in February: the annual Sun Run on Sydney's Northern Beaches. The course is either 7km or 10km along the picturesque coast from Dee Why to Manly Beach and the event caters for elite athletes, causal joggers or just out people out to have fun and keeping healthy and active. The meeting point at Curl Curl had 7 brave souls assembled at 5am (Yes AM).  Thankfully the the heat and humidity was not as oppressive as earlier in the the week . Roger, Robert, Ann, Michael, Bev, Lindy and John We made our way to our allocated positions along the course and ensured that motorists didn't enter or attempt to drive along the roads.  The run started at 6:30am - soon wave after wave of groups of runners of differing capabilities and ages all joining in the fun.   The leaders approach These 3 lead runners finished the 10Km course in under 30 minutes Well done to all who competed. Well done to the Marshals. Great fun in our local community! T
