January 2023 BBQ

On Tuesday 17 January most of our Balgowlah Rotary cooks did the rest of us proud at our traditional first meeting of 2023, a BBQ on a beautiful evening at Clontarf Reserve.        Sue Terry and Paul Apps   They did a great job. We all, including several visitors and spouses, saw around 26 of us enjoying camaraderie, good food and just a little reminder of what Rotary is all about....planning future events and assistance to the community, interesting potential future friends & members and having a social time together, as a close group of friends, who are here to help....together. John O'Brien managed to get a substantial discount for our Wagyu Beef burgers and sausages from the butcher at Stockla

Helping the Community: OneMeal and Balgowlah Rotary

OneMeal was suggested by Community Northern Beaches as the appropriate organisation through which our flood relief funds could be best put to use in our local community. The ONE MEAL STORY On seeing what they did, we asked where our club might be able to contribute and it was then that we offered, last July, to do a delivery run each Monday. OneMeal is fully staffed, managed and operated entirely by volunteers. Food is collected from local restaurants, supermarkets, manufacturers. Cooking and portion preparation is done by many volunteers and then orders and deliveries assembled in the hub facility in Brookvale.  Drivers collect the meals plus fruit, vegetables and groceries and drop them off at homes and places that community organisations have notified to OneMeal as requiring/needing assistance. Balgowlah Rotary provides a team of two members each week to work alongside other volunteers delivering meals, prepared by OneMeal. President Rick and Michael Brent helping some of the OneMea
