Sue excels as our Minister for Fun
One of the most important elements in any club is social interaction and having fun. While ZOOM has undoubtedly helped the club to function in current times; getting together, gentle exercise in the outdoors then meeting and talking over coffee or at a picnic is equally important.
PP Sue Terry has assembled a great collection of different and interesting walks in our locality and everyone who participated have thoroughly enjoyed them - so here is a rundown of the those that have occurred.
Sue will advise of the walks that are being planned at future club meetings
Warriewood Wetlands
Despite a light sprinkle the highly enjoyable walk was on mostly on boardwalk or easy flat paths.
A team of 8 walkers started 'Steptember' in fine form. (actually it was Friday September 4). Very early in the walk the wildlife was in plain view, a young wallaroo seems not to notice our group and grazed only a few meters away from the boardwalk. A Royal Spoonbill was further away. We heard lots of Bellbirds but didn't see them.

Diana Hart took great videos:
We crossed the road and walked along the Irrawong track as far as the waterfall.
Beyond the waterfall the Irrawong track continues to Ingleside, however this part track has steep grades and heavy foliage; so we retraced our steps and returned to the carpark & picnic area. A great day - well done Sue.
Waratahs at Duffy's Forest
A very different wildflower walk, Bev took a small group to see the stunning display on 14th September.
A
small group of 5 of us met at Duffy's Forest in the morning on Monday
14 September for a real treat in the form of a short bush walk along
fire trails to see wonderful wildflowers, the pinnacle being groups of
the magnificent Waratahs in flower, the floral emblem of NSW.
It was followed of course by a coffee, locally. Sue reported "Thanks to Bev for the heads up about the flowering, and for leading us to enjoy them in their natural environment and a truly great morning"

"Hole in the Wall" walk near North Head, arriving at Shelly Beach
This outing on Wednesday 16 September afternoon was enjoyed by 6 walkers and started at Old Manly Hospital ending at Shelly Beach. Lots of wildflowers were in bloom, including profusely flowering Flannel Flowers
Sue reported that the group enjoyed lots of discussion over a 'happy hour' wine at the Boathouse at Shelly Beach .. and then wound our way back to Darley Road via the ICMS grounds - the easier way. All in a most enjoyable afternoon.
A big "Well done" to Sue
FURTHER WALKS ARE PLANNED - SUE WILL ADVISE BY EMAIL
