It was sad news to learn that Peter Kaill passed away on 2 nd August 2022, aged 92. His funeral was held on Wed 24 th August at Northern Suburbs Crematorium.   Peter and wife Margaret actively supported and attended many club functions in recent years, but their greatest times were spending time and occasions with the family their 3 children and 6 grandchildren.   Peter ran a very successful Hardware business on Sydney Road Balgowlah for many years then his eldest son, James took it over when Peter retired. Peter was a keen sailor and an ardent member of Middle Harbour Yacht Club where he sailed competitively for many years including the Sydney to Hobart yacht race   Peter joined Rotary as inaugural member of the club in 1974 - in fact started the Balgowlah Club with John Havilah.    PP Peter Kaill, PP Tim Anderson and PP John Havilah at the club's 40th birthday in 2014 Peter held various positions/roles within the club over the years, including Program Cha

On Tuesday August 23 our club members met at the facilities of Lifeline Northern Beaches in Balgowlah where many of their programs and operations were explained, and we had a great opportunity to view their facilities. Initially we assembled in the Lifeline shop which had an amazing array of quality goods and memorabilia One interesting aspect of the shop’s items called Altered State is the makeup of innovative ways of making unique items from unsalable donations. Oh What a Night!

Balgowlah Rotary and the the Third Age Rock Orchestra held our third dance evening on Saturday 30th July 2022. A great night was had by all - evidenced by the number of people who danced throughout the evening. The venue was Pittwater RSL Club at Mona Vale and it was a most enjoyable night for the ninety people who attended. Harvey Broadbent (leader) and the High Rollers (singers in blue) And of course those numbers we all know and love - like Hey Jude All proceeds will go to Balgowlah Rotary's Local and Youth projects. Thank you to all who supported this great night - especially Harvey and the 3AR Orchestra who all give their time and talents gratis. Well done to the organising team  and we will be sure ready for the next one...  --ooOoo-- And finally.....

A big contrast to last year which had to be held on ZOOM due to Covid restrictions, our Changeover dinner was held at Balgowlah RSL tonight with 28 people attending.   President Rick opened the meeting and welcomed members, partners, friends and guests including our new Assistant District Governor and three people from Lifeline Northern Beaches. The venue was ideal and the two-course meal  very enjoyable - here is some of the happy diners. Photos courtesy John O'Brien - always good ones! The official part: Our new ADG   Rick introduced John Campbell, our new Assistant District Governor – Beaches. John first explained he was a long standing local to Manly and the region having spent many years growing up and living in the area prior to moving to Blackheath.   Welcome John Campbell - Our ADG Beaches 2022-23 John then outlined the rationale behind the 2022-23 Rotary International theme and logo.    Incoming International Presid
