Diana HART, OAM: A FORTUNATE LIFE On Tuesday September 1, our club speaker was member PP Diana Hart OAM who gave a interesting and inspiring speech entitled A Fortunate Life . Infront of a small Covid compliant audience and on ZOOM to the remaining members, Diana outlined her life which encompassed not only an amazing and busy Medical career but also both leading or being substantially involvement with major Rotary Health projects. “Rotary has proved a great way to make the most of life”: Quote from her life story in the Manly Daily. Diana was born in Sydney and at age 6 moved from Strathfield to Avoca which had a one teacher school. At a young age she became heavily involved local community activities and sport, playing tennis (her father instigated the construction of the court) and ballroom dancing in the Avoca Community Hall. Awards Night 2024 At the Rotary Balgowlah Awards Night 130 people assembled at Wakehurst Golf Club to celebrate achievements by various members of our community – especially the awardees. The event recognises and acknowledges the achievements of individuals and organisations or small businesses in our local community that have made a constructive contribution and positive impact. Rotary Balgowlah have been holding award evenings for over 40 years, The people attending consisting of awardees, parents, partners, and friends along with Rotarians and their partners. Each year the Rotary Club of Balgowlah, awards members of the local community for the work they have done in promoting and exhibiting high levels of commitment in the areas of Community Service and Vocation. This was a truly great night where we as a club had the honour and pleasure of awarding various members of our community with Rotary Awards marking the difference they make in the local community or vocations that they work in. A total of 10 awards were presented - two (2) Youth Awards to younger people nominated by their school; then four (4) Small Business Awards, two (2) Pride of Workmanship Awards and two (2) Community Awards to round out a night thoroughly enjoyed by Awardees and attendees alike.
